For a long time now I have been fascinated by the dishes and products that form part of our food culture. I attribute this to having a mother that cared about her cooking and regularly served up traditional British fare alongside foreign dishes that as a nation we have adopted as our own. Also, I had a family who recognised that mealtime was not only an opportunity to enjoy wonderful homecooked delights but, very importantly, an opportunity to slow down and socialise around a table...sadly, something done less and less these days. Of course, as much as I liked my mother's homemade goodies, there was many a product that came out of tin, can, packet or box courtesy of the same brands that have faithfully served so many of us over the years and, again, whether foreign or British in origin have become part of our food identity. It is through this website I hope to celebrate these foods and brands that, I believe, have made the Great British diet the best in the world. I hope you enjoy my site and if you have any questions, suggestions, ideas or just want to say hello don't hesitate to contact me. Happy Eating, Matthew
General Website Information: Independent website: This website is simply a hobby of mine that I have the pleasure of attending to whenever I can spare the time. I can assure you that I am not employed by any of the brands mentioned. Naturally, if my circumstances change then my readers will be informed. Sending me products to review: It is always lovely to get some goodies in the post and I promise a prompt, honest and detailed write up of anything I receive. However, before contacting me, please do bear in mind that TGBD is dedicated to products that are available here in the UK. I love to try things from other countries that I cannot get at home but that is not what this website is about. Site Errors: With the site growing rapidly and a limit on the amount of time I can invest in it as a hobby, you may well encounter errors in my articles and site functionality. I apologise in advance for this and assure you that I correct any errors I come across immediately. If you wish to report anything then please contact me and I will be very grateful. Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles are user generated therefore I cannot guarantee that any such content that appears on TGBD is 100% accurate. Content use: Those wishing to use any text and imagery copyright of this site can do so as long as www.thegreatbritishdiet.co.uk is clearly displayed alongside said content and given full and proper credit. |
